Help MIT Sangam Welcome New MIT Students
MIT Sangam organizes a pre-departure orientation event in India for incoming students from India to their very first year at MIT.
The event is a great opportunity for new students to feel connected and confident before their leap across the world, to make friends, interact with alumni and current students, and get all their questions addressed during the sessions—including a video conference with various MIT deans. The event has consistently received very positive feedback from the participating students over the years. In 2018, we had around 30 students take part in the event, and we hope to bring it back in 2019.
Last year’s orientation was graciously co-sponsored by MIT-India and the Office of Graduate Education, with Sangam bearing the remainder of the costs. Rather than scrambling for sponsorship from different sources each year, Sangam hopes to find a sustainable source of support so this program can continue for years to come! Our anticipated budget for next year’s event is $5,000, including accommodation, charter bus, food, and conference space.
Thanks a lot guys for organizing this awesome event. Never discontinue this. Please. I was apprehensive about my social life at MIT before this, but not anymore. - 2018 Orientation Attendee
Please help us raise $5,000 to host next year’s pre-departure orientation for MIT’s new class of students from India!
About MIT Sangam
We are the association of Indian students at MIT!
Sangam keeps the ethos and culture of India alive with events, celebrations of festivals and fun activities. Every few weeks, we give the graduate student community a reason to delve in and get a glimpse of the Indian definition of fun, along with some authentic food.
We have a membership base of over 1,000 students. Our cultural and social events see participation not only from students at MIT, but also from residents all over the greater Boston area.
