For two decades, OpenCourseWare (OCW) has been sharing MIT teaching materials with the world. In that time, OCW has become a robust, free educational resource thousands of people rely on every day to improve their knowledge, circumstances, and communities.
The complexities of the world’s challenges today—from a global pandemic and the spread of misinformation online to climate change and the continued fight against systemic inequities—show us that OCW’s commitments to sharing knowledge freely and openly and serving as a reliable resource for anyone are more timely than ever. Open knowledge is not only a tool for empowering the mind but for building a better future. We need your support to continue OCW’s critical work providing these resources.
The next generation of OCW
As we plan for the future, we are investing in a more accessible platform so that OCW might support even more learners, wherever they are.
NextGen OCW, a new mobile-friendly platform launching later this year, will help expand OCW’s reach and impact; offer more seamless discovery and navigation of site resources; allow MIT educators to keep OCW a vibrant, current, and evolving reflection of teaching at MIT; support educators in adopting content from OCW into their teaching; and provide greater flexibility for bandwidth-limited users to access OCW.
How your support can help
It’s taken a community to make the first 20 years of OCW possible. Now we’re looking toward our community to come together again to help us lay the foundation for what comes next.
The first $10,000 raised in our 20th anniversary campaign is being matched by a generous gift from Anne ’77 and Nick Whyte. Every gift made will help us deliver on our mission to freely share teaching materials and resources from MIT with the world through a more accessible OpenCourseWare for the future.
Join us in creating the next generation of OCW with your gift today!
