About This Campaign

Who are we?

Since 1949, the MIT Logarhythms, or the Logs for short, have entertained audiences around the world with their unique mix of harmony and humor. We have a diverse repertoire that includes many contemporary tunes from all genres; everything from classic rock to current pop songs to indie and R&B. We pride ourselves on our energetic, musically polished performances and in-house arrangements that are innovative, complex, and dynamic.

A typical semester for the Logs involves tri-weekly rehearsals, tours, and a final end-of-semester concert, which is the culmination of months of dedication. These concerts typically attract 500+ in-person attendees at MIT and are live-streamed on YouTube, where past performances have garnered more than 1,000 views.

Outside of MIT, the Logs have toured both regionally and internationally, performing in cities like New York and London. The group regularly sings at large concerts and events, including opening for acclaimed comedians Michael Che, Roy Wood Jr., and Hannibal Buress at the Wilbur Theatre this past year. Our group has earned national recognition over the past two decades, with three of our albums—Natural, Give Us Back Our Spyplane!, and BAM—receiving top reviews from the Recorded A Cappella Review Board (RARB) for collegiate recordings. Most recently, the group received acclaim from the Boston Globe (https://www.bostonglobe.com/2024/08/05/arts/mit-la-la-land-musical-film-arts-stem/) for our short film and original soundtrack, “Log Log Land.”

What is the purpose of our project?

The purpose of our project is to raise money for a 75th Anniversary Reunion for the MIT Logarhythms a cappella group to celebrate a notable milestone — 75 years of musical and performance excellence entertaining audiences both within and outside of MIT.

We invite all alumni, family, friends, and fans of the MIT Logarhythms to join our philanthropic effort and help us meet our fundraising goal of $15,000, which will help in funding the 75th Anniversary Reunion held from March 7th-9th, 2025 at MIT. Any extra funds would go towards supporting the current and future of the group.

Join us in supporting the arts and MIT’s oldest student-run music group!

Why are we raising money?

We strongly believe that every MIT student should have access to our performances, regardless of their financial situation. Therefore, we work hard to ensure our concerts are completely free for the MIT community. Each year, we rely on generous funding from alumni, paid gigs, and additional support to cover the rising costs of producing these events. However, as costs increase, it has become more challenging to maintain our free concert policy. Support to finance the 75th Reunion would help us to continue offering free, high-quality performances to the MIT community while also enabling us to organize an unforgettable 75th Anniversary event!

A gift of $125, $250, $500, $750, or $1,000 will help with custodial and setup costs for the 75th Reunion event. $2,000 will help fund catering, and $4,200 will cover room rental costs.

How will our project impact MIT or the greater community?

Thousands of people come to our performances annually, and we are a staple of the MIT community, bringing joy and cheer in the countless events we hold yearly. We take pride in our unique position within the MIT community and have a vibrant alumni network connecting people across generations of Logs. By organizing a reunion to celebrate our 75th year, we hope to continue to strengthen our growing alumni network and community so that this year can be our most musical one yet!
