About This Campaign
MIT Biotech Group empowers aspiring biotech trainees to accelerate their careers through industry exposure, practical learning opportunities, and networking. Our aim is to increase the pace of biotechnological innovation by building relationships between the MIT community and thought leaders in academia, industry, and business.
We organize faculty dinners with MIT researchers who have active biotech industry collaborations (i.e., faculty who have founded startups or are on scientific advisory boards of companies), run a recurring “Basics of Biotech” seminar series to orient students to core areas of the sector (R&D, business, regulation, translation), and host various other seminar and networking events with biotech professionals, alumni, and founders. Together, these programs help students understand how scientific innovation drives company formation and patient impact, and lower the barrier for undergraduates and early trainees to join the field.
MBG events routinely draw large, diverse audiences of undergraduates, MEng students, grad students, and postdocs who want to break into biotech: every year, thousands of MIT students and researchers attend MBG events. In addition to advancing biotech education, MBG’s events facilitate direct benefits for MIT community members, with many students being connected to internships and full-time roles, UROPs, or early venture opportunities.
Your support will allow us to increase the opportunities for students to meet industry mentors and be empowered to succeed in biotech. By having more resources to deepen MIT’s ties to biotech companies and alumni, we will strengthen the pipeline of MIT-trained biotech talent for the Cambridge ecosystem and for partner institutions beyond campus.
