About This Campaign
Who are we?
MIT Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a Massachusetts licensed basic life support (BLS) ambulance serving the MIT community and surrounding cities. We operate a transporting ambulance and offer EMT-B and CPR training courses. We are entirely student-run and operate on a volunteer basis under the authority of the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS). We are also an MIT ASA recognized student organization.
Our ambulance is staffed to respond to emergencies 24/7 throughout the school year. We are dispatched by the MIT Police Department, which can be reached by dialing 100 from a campus phone or 617-253-1212 from any phone. We receive approximately 1200 calls per year, with a wide variety of emergencies ranging from ankle injuries and flu-like symptoms to severe traumas and cardiac arrests.
Send a student EMT to the NCEMSF conference
We are raising money to send a group of our student EMTs to the annual National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF) Conference which takes place in February 2026 in Arlington, VA. At this conference, the students will present, network, and share ideas with over 250 other campus-based EMS programs.
We want to encourage students to attend this conference without any financial pressures. Students who attended this conference previously found the experience very memorable, educational, and inspired them to bring ideas back to improve MIT’s emergency services. Our budget is limited, and your generous donations will help us send more students to attend this conference.
The value of the EMT conference experience
Our student EMTs invest hundreds of hours training to be certified and exceptional at responding to calls and life-threatening emergencies. The experience gained from the NCEMSF conference helps develop skills including leadership, communication, and decision-making which improves the EMT’s ability to serve the community.
How your donation can help:
$135 pays one student EMT's conference registration fee
$150 pays one student EMT's hotel stay at the conference
$300 pays one student EMT's transportation costs
$600 pays one student EMT's entire conference package
