25 Years of MIT Resonance

Founded in 2001, MIT Resonance is a co-ed a cappella ensemble dedicated to bringing contemporary music to the MIT community. Over the course of 25 years, Resonance has established itself as an integral part of MIT's musical landscape, performing at distinguished campus events such as TEDx MIT and 2.009, collaborating with peer ensembles, and engaging audiences both on campus and beyond.

Central to Resonance's identity is its members' unwavering commitment to artistic excellence. Each semester, members undertake three weekly rehearsals, a group retreat, and a culminating end-of-semester concert. This shared dedication has transformed Resonance into far more than a performance ensemble—it is an enduring community whose bonds extend well beyond graduation.

This year marks a momentous occasion: the 25th anniversary of MIT Resonance. In recognition of this milestone, the group is hosting its first-ever alumni reunion weekend—a formal gathering designed to bring together current members and alumni for an opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and perform together once more, taking place May 8–10.

To ensure this celebration is both accessible and impactful, Resonance is currently seeking philanthropic support. Funds raised will enable the group to present a complimentary, high-quality concert open to the entire MIT community, while also supporting a meaningful alumni reunion program centered on connection and shared experience. By removing financial barriers to attendance, Resonance reaffirms its commitment to making live music accessible to all members of the MIT community.

This initiative represents a unique opportunity to unite generations of Resonance members in celebration of a shared legacy, while simultaneously enriching the broader MIT community through the power of live performance. Through music, Resonance aspires to cultivate moments of joy, connection, and celebration that will endure long beyond this anniversary year.

Suggested donations:

$20-50: Helps cover supplies and materials for the reunion weekend

$100: Covers the full weekend cost for one alumni attendee — meals, activities, and events combined.

$250-500: Covers sound equipment rental for the anniversary concert, helping make it free and high-quality for the entire MIT community.

$1,000: A transformational gift that underwrites a significant portion of the reunion weekend and ensures the event is accessible to all alumni, regardless of their ability to contribute.
