Help raise money for Solstice

The purpose of this project is to fund the development of our newest multi-occupant solar car, Solstice. Building on lessons learned from our previous car, Gemini—which placed 4th in the 2024 American Solar Challenge (ASC)—we designed Solstice to be lighter, more efficient, and significantly more aerodynamic, with nearly half the drag of its predecessor. Now we are in our manufacturing phase, where we will see Solstice rise from the ground up over the next few months. Our goal is to race Solstice at ASC 2026 and achieve even greater results while pushing the boundaries of sustainable transportation.

Designing and building a road-legal solar-powered car is an exciting but expensive endeavor. Every component of Solstice—from solar cells, battery cells, lightweight carbon-fiber aeroshell, to student-machined suspension parts—requires significant funding. In addition, our team must purchase equipment, cover travel expenses for competitions and trips, and ensure our daily
operations run smoothly. Every dollar from you directly supports student innovation and sustainable engineering. We need your help to power our drive toward ASC 2026!

How will my donation contribute to the team?

• $100: Funds snacks for team members hard at work!
• $200: Funds strategy and firmware, helping us optimize our route during ASC and ensure important components, such as the steering wheel and headlights, function as intended.
• $500: Buys epoxy for our chassis panels to be assembled.  
• $1,000: Covers the costs for LV (low-voltage) and HV (high-voltage) harnessing, crucial to managing both the low and high voltage systems present in Solstice.
• $2,000: Covers the purchase of our vinyl wrap, where we proudly represent MIT and display our sponsors.
• $5,000: Enables our front suspension, back suspension, roll cage, brakes, steering, and door subteams to purchase metal stock and parts for manufacturing Solstice. 
• $10,000: Pays for the labor, material, housing, food, and vehicles crucial to the logistics of our aeroshell layup trips.
