MIT Solar Electric Vehicle Team’s Aeroshell

Help create a custom aeroshell for Solstice

The purpose of this project is to raise money for the purchase of a custom aeroshell for our newest vehicle, Solstice. The aeroshell is a crucial component of the car. It is the vehicle’s outer body and plays a very important role in the car’s aerodynamics and thus its efficiency. During each design phase, we create and optimize a unique, aerodynamic shell for our car to continue to create better and better solar vehicles as we learn from our past experiences.

The aeroshell is our single most expensive purchase and one of the most essential components of the car. In addition to material and tooling cost, the manufacturing of the aeroshell requires us to travel to an off-campus location with resources to support such a large project. Creating a solar electric vehicle, with all of our custom elements, is very expensive, and we rely on many kind and generous sponsorships and donations in order to accomplish the amazing things that we do.
