About This Campaign

MIT’s SuperUROP is celebrating a noteworthy milestone—a decade of fostering innovation, research, and academic excellence, paving the way for more than 1,000 SuperUROP alumni to go on to hold successful careers across industry, academia, and entrepreneurship.

To commemorate this achievement and ensure that SuperUROP continues to thrive, we are launching “SuperUROP: a decade of innovation and research,” a fundraising initiative aimed to support and expand SuperUROP’s impact in empowering future generations of innovators and researchers. Gifts from alumni, industry, and friends enable undergraduates to have yearlong, graduate-level research experiences under the guidance of faculty members and industry mentors.

We invite you to join our philanthropic effort and help us meet our fundraising goal of $10,000, which will fund the research project of a SuperUROP student next year. The generosity of SuperUROP alumni will enable us to empower future cohorts to embark on thriving careers across diverse sectors.

About SuperUROP

An expanded version of MIT’s flagship Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, SuperUROP is a year-long experience that offers juniors and seniors the time, training, and resources necessary to do research at the level found in graduate school or industry.

Working closely with faculty and industry-based mentors, these emerging investigators roll up their sleeves to delve into topics ranging from nursing care and combating money laundering to heart disease and data center networks. The students’ goal: to produce prototypes or publication-worthy results by year’s end. Their research experience is supported by coursework. Through class 6.UAR (Preparation for Undergraduate Research), the SuperUROP students learn the essentials of research from designing experiments to writing technical papers and giving talks at conferences. They also present posters to the MIT community in the fall and spring at the widely attended SuperUROP Showcases.
